Ollie (#43) is
our left-armed pitcher and he usually opens the game. Ollie has the lowest ERA
of the seven players who have stepped on the mound to date. He has been faced
by 105 batters and has 21 strikeouts in the bag, with Rohan just in front of
him on 23. Ollie was missed when he went away on school camp (school camps are
Eli (#53) is
batting 250 and has 3 RBI. We only had 8 players the week Eli went off on a
cruise because Ollie happened to also be away on school camp (all cruises are
Brad (#24) is
leading the team’s RBI with 7 in his tally, and he is playing in his first
season of senior baseball on Saturday afternoons. His batting average is higher
in 4th Grade than Under 17 at the moment. What does that mean, Brad?
Cam (#3) is one
of only 4 players that have been available for every game played to date, so he
gets bonus points for reliability. In our second game against the Indians, Cam
was the only Eagle player who got a safe hit too.
Antony (#5) will
be on the DL for several weeks having managed to tear some growth plate from
the elbow of his throwing arm. Antony played in the first three games before
his injury, collecting 3 assists and 5 putouts. We hope you heal quickly Antony
(all injuries are henceforth banned).
Rohan (#39) has
the team’s highest batting average and a combined on-base plus slugging
percentage of 1.292. He might keep batting in the four or five hole for a while
yet. Rohan is having his first season playing seniors and he pitched the Eagles
4th Grade team to their first win yesterday.
Hamish is the Eagles’
dependable 13 year-old who backs up the Under 17 team when needed. Hamish has
played in half of the Under 17 games to date. His spray chart tells the story
of solid at bats (all hard ground balls) that would have gone deep into left
field for easy stand-up doubles in the Under 15 competition. Sadly, the Under
17 opposition have in fielders that play 1st Grade on Sundays. Stop
hitting it to the 1st Grade players Hamish – hit it where they aint!
Jayden (#41) is
new to Eagles this season. He took a great catch in left field against Rebels
yesterday and thankfully has missed one game only due to injury so far. For the
record, Jayden, injuries are banned.
Jaydon (#35) is
solidifying his position as second baseman, currently fielding 1.000 with 6
assists and 8 putouts. Hamish is the only other fielder in the line-up with no
errors against his name to date. Jaydon has also put on the catching gear for
3.1 innings so far, providing a valuable back-up so coaches can call on an
extra relief pitcher (AKA Ryan) when required.
Ryan (#48) leads
the team in runs scored and stolen bases, which is why he typically opens the
batting. Ryan has done most of the heavy lifting as catcher to date, having
caught 20 innings already this season. He is now playing seniors for Eagles on
Sundays too. Please don’t get injured, Ryan.
Oscar (#20) is
new to Eagles and joined the club in the 4th game of the season.
Oscar’s arrival was fortuitously timed to replace the injured Antony. Oscar has
the second highest on base percentage in the team after only 5 games, and that
has seen him climb up the batting order. He is a strong infielder and catcher
too, so is a valued new addition to the Club — thanks for joining Eagles,
Steven (Coach) has popped a rib, so apparently he did not read
the memo that said injuries are not allowed.
Boomer (Coach) has been AWOL for the last two weeks and we
don’t know what his story is.
Ed (Coach) arrived on time yesterday AND he was at the
correct field to boot!
