U9 Match report 8th Dec 2018

Eagles putting it all together
We’ve never been short of hits and runs and today was no different. But what was the most pleasing to see today was the progress we’re making in defence/fielding. For the first time this season we retired the opposition in all 3 innings by getting the 3 outs. Oliver lead the way in the 1st inning by looking like a genuine catcher, crouched down, gloving strikes like nobody’s business. Fantastic effort Ollie. He was followed by Austin and Knox who know the job is to stop the ball by any means possible. Use the helmet, sit on it, Put your butt in front of it. Whatever it takes. Strong efforts guys. We nearly secured our first 3 up 3 down inning in the 1st with Chase solid as a rock at 1st taking it cleanly from Hamish and Austin’s throws for the outs. Caity was next at 1st base and she took 2 outs of her own in similar style, even fielding a shot down the 1st baseline that looked like it was going foul before she snapped it up.  We’re starting to play some real baseball which is brilliant.
Every batter registered hits today and moved the runners around perfectly. Hamish crushed his first of 2 home runs in the 1st inning bringing in 3 runs and then cleared the bases in the 2nd inning with our first GRAND SLAM!!!! Seeing it like beach balls from the machine Hamish ripped a shot through Left Field that saw all runners score and Hamish over home plate before the ball was even fielded. Great hitting Hamish.
Great also to have Clark back with us and showed he has lost no skills in his time off.

Junior League match report 8th Dec 2018

Back to back wins for our Eagles Junior League team.

Eagles took advantage of the Bears last minute pitching change due to injury in warm-up, winning 20-9.

We weren’t going to mention the pitchers this week but George’s control on the mound, pitching to the 2nd place bears, was outstanding. George had heat on his fast balls, perfect selection of pitches and had 10 first pitch strikes in the 2 innings that he pitched.

Hamish had a great game with the bat going 3 for 3 + a walk, 4 runs, 5 stolen bases and 4 rbis.

Mr Consistent, Julian, continues getting on base as our lead off and threw a bullet from the 3rd to get the runner out at 1st .

We welcomed back Harry from injury who executed 2 perfect bunts and was solid at 1st base.

Jake is safe under the high fly balls and continues to the move the runners around the bases.

Connor, Tobey, Regan, Aran & Liam were patient in the batters box against the Bear’s new pitchers, making base, stealing bases and scoring runs.

Thanks to Aran, Liam and their families for coming to u15s before racing back to Narrabundah for 13s.

We take on Indians mid week before our bye next Saturday.

Go Eagles!

U9 Match Report – 1st Dec 2018

U9 we’re back to full strength bar 1 and the players returning to the squad showed how much they’d missed the sweet sound of balls crushing off of bats. Another fantastic display of hitting by everyone. Hamish notched another 3 run Home Run and a couple of doubles. Knox hit for 3 rbi with big singles and a double. Gavin hit our first triple that only some strong fielding stopped him converting into a run but scored from the next play anyway.
Caity got a sweet rip from the machine in a line drive down 3rd base line. Jackson. Chase and Oliver all getting on base consistently with Jackson going 3 for 3 from the machine. It’s great to see everyone improving so rapidly.
Thoughts go out to Clark who has been battling an ear infection and we hope we can have him back at training and playing soon.

Junior League Match Report, 1st Dec 2018

What a game, with a walk off win for our Eagles Junior League team.

George was dominant on the mound, with 3 strikeouts and 2 pickoffs. He was well supported in the field by Aran at 3rd and Jake at short stop.  Julian’s first time pitching in u15s resulted in 2 strike outs, no earned runs and combined with Hamish for a nice caught stealing at home plate.

Strong hits by Julian, Connor and Jake with the rest of the Eagles rewarded with patience in the batter’s box.

With 14 stolen bases, including Hamish’s steal of home, kept the score line ticking over.

Tobey’s base running continues to improve with a stolen base and he placed plenty of pressure on the fielders. Regan was kept busy in right field chasing down hits and keeping the runners from advancing.

Bandits Tim, Elliot and Ollie combined to take the lead and put pressure back on our young Eagles. It all came down to the bottom of the last inning, needing 2 runs to win. Aran, Liam & Julian stayed calm, made it on base and Jake hit in the winning run to win 11-10.

Thanks to the coaches, parents and players from both sides for an entertaining game of baseball. Shout out to Jack, for coming down to support the team in his camouflaged cast. Special thanks to our umpires and amazing scorer J

U9 Match Report – 24 Nov 2018

Tballers to the rescue
A great, tight fought win for U9s this weekend. With 4 regulars unable to take the field we had to call on some of the young guns from the Tball team to help us out. And help us out they did. Fantastic effort to step up in age group from Grand Slam Cam, Benny MacDonald, Iorwerth Evans and Xavier Hansen. Every Tballer registered at least 1 hit and impressively showed they’re ready for Machine Pitch by getting hits from the machine too. Iorwerth and Xavier had their first taste of behind the plate action also and bravely donned the catchers gear for an inning each. A great effort from all and we thank them for their help.
Jackson Corcoran had a huge day in the field gloving everything that came his way and effecting perfect throws to 1st for the outs assisted by Chase. Austin took a great catch at 3rd base and with quick thinking was nearly able to get the double play as the runner was slow to tag up back at 1st. Knox and Oliver were again our lead off batters and are scoring runs every week with good hits from the machine and soft toss and advancing around the bases. Chase showed his love of a run down tag out by racing after his base runner late in the game proving too quick for his prey. A great win.
Again special thanks to the parents, coach and tballers for helping us out.

T-Ball Match Report – 17th Nov 2018

This week saw the Baby Birds take on the Weston Creek Indians in a memorable match some commentators are now referring to as the ‘Wonder in Narrabundah’.

The Eagles came out swinging early with all nine players reaching base with some solid hitting right through the line-up.  Iorwerth continued to swing a hot bat, picking up another couple of homeruns to add to his season tally.  Xavier’s batting practice has really paid off as he had some outstanding at-bats, and Charlotte showed excellent speed on the base paths.

Levi played a great game this week and really impressed the coach and fans with his hustle, particularly when he ran off after getting out at third, showing players on both sides how to play the game. Defensively, Lily and Cam teamed up to make some terrific plays and recorded several outs, and Reuben was brilliant in the field apart from the time he couldn’t find his glove (it was on his head).

At question time after the game Chase again took the opportunity to remind everyone not to fight over the ball, which is fast becoming the team motto.  Coach Chris pointed out that we need to work on making sure we all get out into the field and play our positions every inning, even if we’re not feeling up to it.  Remember – great teams play for each other, and this Eagles tee-ball side is a great team!

Next week we take on the Bandits in a grudge match that is sure to entertain.  Hope to see you there!

U15’s Match Report – 17th Nov 2018

U15’s went down in a to-and-fro game 11-10 to the Indians. Eagles started off well, with strong hitting from the top of the line-up to give us an early lead in the top of the first, backed by a 1-2-3 bottom of the first. However Indians fought back in the middle innings to take the lead. A late charge by our bottom order in the last inning drew the scores, but we couldn’t hold on, giving up the go ahead run in the bottom of the last before time was called.

Positives from the game were our batting, with Julian going 3 for 3, 2 hits to Aran and Jack’s first ever hit in baseball. Also, our pick-offs continue to improve, with our 3rd for the season at 2nd base and a near miss at 1st base.

Plenty to build on at training this week before we take on the Rebels at Kambah this Saturday.
